Pierce Clarkson, a redshirt sophomore backup quarterback on the UCLA football team, was arrested Friday afternoon on unspecified felony charges, according to Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department records
Clarkson, who transferred to UCLA from Ole Miss in the spring after spending his previous two seasons at Louisville, was indefinitely suspended from the football team following his arrest.
“We are aware of the charges against Pierce Clarkson,” a UCLA Athletics spokesperson said in a statement to the Southern California News Group on Sunday evening. “He has been indefinitely suspended from all team activity pending the outcome of the legal process. This situation will be evaluated by the UCLA Office of Student Conduct and any further action taken will be in accordance with that evaluation and University policy.”
The Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest Division arrested Clarkson, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department records. The St. John Bosco High alumnus’s bail was set at $30,000, and he was released on bond.
Clarkson, 21, competed with fellow redshirt sophomore quarterback Luke Duncan, among other quarterbacks, to back up Nico Iamaleava on the 2025 football team, head coach DeShaun Foster had stated numerous times during fall camp. Duncan had been the primary quarterback in second-team practice reps during media watching periods, making Clarkson the likely third quarterback on the Bruins’ depth chart.
Clarkson is due in court for his first hearing on Oct. 3.
