A man driving a stolen pickup truck crashed into several vehicles before being tackled by police after a foot chase in upland on Saturday, Feb. 22, police said.
Around 11 a.m., the Ontario Police Department alerted Upland Police Department that a stolen Ford F-150 had entered the city, police said in a statement.
With the assistance of Ontario’s helicopter, officers located the truck near Mountain Avenue and Arrow Highway. The driver did not stop, and a pursuit began.
The suspect drove southbound on Benson Avenue and crashed into several other vehicles when he ran a red light. Footage shows the truck colliding with a dark-covered vehicle as it was making a left turn.
The truck finally came to a stop near a Jiffy Lube, and the driver fled on foot. Officers chased after him, jumping over fences of nearby businesses, and eventually tackled the suspect.
The victims who the suspect struck were injured and taken to the hospital. Details regarding their injuries and current conditions were not immediately available.
The suspect, whose identity was not released, sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of several felonies, including felony evading causing injury. He is being held on $1 million bail.
The Upland Police Department did not immediately respond to calls for more information.
