San Bernardino police fatally shot a suspect in Beaumont on Monday who, officials said, had a firearm, according to a news release.
On July 14 just before 4 p.m., a police officer assigned to the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force, along with officers from the Beaumont Police Department, carried out a search warrant in the 800 block of West 4th Street in Beaumont, according to the news release. The group reportedly came across a suspect with a firearm, leading to at least one officer fatally shooting the person. The suspect died at the scene.
Details about the confrontation, including whether the suspect refused to drop the weapon or if the suspect used the weapon, were not immediately made available.
Additionally, details about the identity of the suspect, and the type of firearm the individual reportedly had, were also not immediately known.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office will be investigating the office-involved shooting.
