Redlands schools’ food service employees recently toured an old packinghouse in town that will someday become its headquarters.

The Redlands Unified School District’s Child Nutrition Services department scouted the historic Redlands Foothill Groves packinghouse on Ninth Street. The facility, which opened in 1924, was the last packinghouse in Redlands as well as in San Bernardino County.
Department leaders held their annual meeting at the location but invited employees along.
The Tuesday, Aug. 5, trip offered a forecast of what’s to come.
Today, the district’s maintenance and operations department has some offices at the site, spokesperson Christine Stephens wrote in an email. But, if things go according to plans, the nutrition department could join them in the 2027-28 school year, she said.
The nutrition department is currently housed at 250 Church St., in Redlands.
