A man was in critical condition on Thursday, May 8, after he was stabbed overnight in Riverside.
There was no immediate word on why the man was attacked around 3:15 a.m. in the 11000 block of Magnolia Avenue, just east of La Sierra Avenue.
The attacker fled, said Officer Ryan Railsback, a Riverside Police Department spokesman. Police did not announce a description of the attacker.
A segment of Magnolia, one of the city’s most heavily traveled streets, was closed for hours for the investigation. Video from the scene from ONSCENE.TV showed more than a dozen evidence markers and blood on a curb.
Three years ago in that same location, a homeless man stabbed to death another homeless man who witnesses said was wielding a crowbar. Police initially arrested the stabber but then released him after the other man’s role in the confrontation came to light.
Railsback said detectives did not yet know whether homeless people were involved in Thursday’s attack.
