The CIF Southern Section will hold its annual track and field Masters Meet event Saturday at Moorpark High School.
The Masters Meet serves as a qualifying event for the CIF State Championships. And this season, there are more opportunities to earn the trip to Clovis.
In past years, the top nine times in running events and top 12 marks in field events from the Southern Section division finals moved onto the Masters Meet. This season, however, there are 18 qualifiers in each event (all four of the division champions, plus the next best times and marks across the divisions).
In running events, the six fastest times in the first heat will qualify for the state meet. The six best marks in field events also advance to next week’s meet, provided they meet the standard. Others athletes can advance to the state finals by hitting at-large standards in their respective events.
Field events begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with running events starting at 1 p.m. Tickets: $14 for adults, and $7 for children (5-13) and students with ID. Parking is $10 (cash only). The stadium will open to spectators at 10 a.m.
Here is a look at some of the Inland athletes and relay teams that could contend for Masters Meet titles.
