Browne was among the nine Centennial football players who finalized their college decisions Wednesday morning by inking athletics aid agreements on the first day of the early signing period. Browne was a receiver an edge rusher for the Huskies this season, but he is headed to Boise State as a tight end. Browne will enroll at the college next month.
“It still hasn’t completely hit me yet. I don’t think it will fully sink in until I step on campus and wake up for that first day of college,” Browne said of signing with Boise State. “Today means a lot because I’ve been working for this moment.”
Jonathan McKinley and Kingston Schirmer both stuck with Cal despite the program making a head coaching change.
“The school itself is never going to change,” McKinley said, referring to Cal’s academic reputation. “And the changes are not as big as some might think. A lot of the coaches I’ve met with through this recruiting process will be staying.”
Schirmer echoed those sentiments: “My relationship with (defensive line coach Andrew Browning) has not changed, so I had no doubt in my mind that I would be staying with Cal. In the end, signing with them really was a no-brainer.”
The other Centennial players who signed on Wednesday were Therman Williams (Wyoming), Caleb Rye (Air Force), Jacob McKindley (Eastern Washington), Tyler George (Penn) and Benjamin Tameifuna (Northern Arizona).
Centennial’s group are joined by nearly two dozen more Inland players signing athletics aid agreements this week.
Murrieta Valley had four players sign Wednesday: Derrick Johnson II (Oklahoma), Elisha Faamatuainu (Cal), Josiah Anyansi (Minnesota) and Luke Kingman (Idaho State). Rancho Cucamonga also had four player sign: Malik White (UNLV), Jacob Chambers (Fresno State), Joshua Mensah (New Mexico) and Justin Lewis (Colorado State).
