THURSDAY’S TOP GAMES
Moreno Valley (4-0) at Chaffey (2-3), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Moreno Valley blanked La Sierra 21-0 last week, and the Vikings now seek the program’s first 5-0 start since the 2015 season. Syree Matthews has passed for 623 yards and eight touchdowns while adding another 287 yards and three scores on the ground. Johnny Robinson leads the squad with four touchdown catches. Linebacker Patrick Castillo and defensive tackle Bryan Orozco have registered 31 tackles apiece. Chaffey saw a two-game winning streak snapped last week with a 48-14 loss at Victor Valley. The Tigers have a balanced rushing attack, led by Alexis Almeida (317 yards) and Carlos Vasquez (314 yards). Noah Stewart leads the defense with 42 tackles and two interceptions and also is the team’s starting quarterback.

Elsinore (4-1) at Diamond Ranch (3-1), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Elsinore has won two straight games, including a 35-14 victory at Norte Vista last week. Kai Tamagpong is in the midst of a breakout season, having rushed for 672 yards and six touchdowns. Xavier Stankevich has also scored six touchdowns on the ground for the Tigers. Linebacker Tyler Willeford leads the defense with 32 tackles. Diamond Ranch cruised to a 42-13 win over Ontario Christian on Sept. 12 and took its bye last week. Cory Wilson leads the ground attack for the Panthers with 479 yards and 13 touchdowns in three games. Linebacker Jaelen Douge is averaging seven tackles per game.
Prediction: Elsinore
Arroyo Valley (4-0) at Pomona (0-4), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Arroyo Valley cruised to a 43-8 victory over Cathedral City last week, and the Hawks now seek the program’s first 5-0 start since the 2002 season. Joseph Stanley has rushed for 456 yards and five touchdowns, and Evan Hunter has racked up 248 yards from scrimmage and scored four touchdowns. Stanley and Brian Carrell have combined for 47 tackles. Pomona returns from a bye looking to snap the program’s 18-game, on-the-field losing streak. The Red Devils did pick up a forfeit win last season.
