THURSDAY’S TOP GAMES
Moreno Valley (2-0) at Vista del Lago (3-0), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: This will be the 20th contest between these crosstown rivals. Moreno Valley holds a 13-6 edge in the series, but Vista del Lago has won five straight, including a 26-23 victory last season. Moreno Valley opened the season with wins over Eisenhower (14-0) and Paloma Valley (34-27) before taking its bye last week. Syree Matthews has passed for 399 yards and four touchdowns and added 171 yards and two scores on the ground. Johnny Robinson has caught all four touchdowns passes by Matthews. Linebacker Patrick Castillo is averaging eight tackles per game for the Vikings. Vista del Lago is coming off a 35-14 win over Adelanto. Josiah Dupree-Boyd has thrown for 542 yards and two touchdowns, and Adrian Bravo Rodriguez has rushed for 153 yards and five scores. Linebacker Jiraya Holt leads the Ravens on defense with 23 tackles and six sacks.

Cajon (1-1) at Newport Harbor (1-2), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Cajon returned from its bye and posted a 34-19 victory over Etiwanda. Marcus Washington has passed for 364 yards and three touchdowns while adding 164 yards and two scores on the ground. Michael Nolley has rushed for 150 yards and is averaging 10 yards per carry. USC-bound linebacker Taylor Johnson has registered 40 tackles in two games to lead the Cowboys’ defense. Newport Harbor looks to bounce back from a 21-17 loss to El Modena. Jake Meer has passed for 703 yards and nine touchdowns, and Shane McKibbin has hauled in three touchdowns for the Sailors.

Rancho Mirage (2-1) at Ramona (3-0), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Ramona is coming off a 44-28 victory over Hillcrest, its third straight win over a crosstown foe. Lorenzo Sims had a career night, running for 379 yards on 30 carries while scoring six touchdowns. Sims ranks among the state’s top rushers with 738 yards through three games. Linebacker Adrian Alvarez leads the Rams’ defense with 27 tackles. Rancho Mirage cruised to a 42-14 victory over Tahquitz last week. The Rattlers have a dynamic 1-2 punch at running back: Chase Miller (328 yards, four TDs) and Julian Hernandez (323 yards, four TDs). Linebacker Hines Verazas leads the defense with 30 tackles.

Palm Springs (3-0) at Colton (2-1), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Colton got back on track last week with a 48-7 win over Arrowhead Christian Academy. Koa Regalado has thrown for 565 yards and nine touchdowns, and Kalvin Leon has hauled in 12 passes for 326 yards and five touchdowns. Defensive back Julian Gonzalez has been a bright spot for the Yellowjackets on defense, forcing two fumbles and recovering one. Palm Springs is coming off a 61-27 victory over Coachella Valley. The Indians are led by quarterback Bishop Miller. Linebacker Koa Rapolla has recorded 51 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks.

Westminster (1-2) at Canyon Springs (3-0), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Canyon Springs is seeking the program’s first 4-0 start since the 2002 season. The Cougars have outscored the opposition 154-14 through the first three games. Angel Robles has thrown for 416 yards and nine touchdowns, and Andre Larry has rushed for 231 yards and four scores. Cornerback Jordan Murray leads the secondary with two interceptions and four passes defensed. Westminster looks to rebound from a 27-14 loss to Santa Ana Calvary Chapel.
