FRIDAY’S TOP GAMES
Aquinas (1-1) at Bonita (0-2, one loss by forfeit), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Aquinas opened with a 20-15 loss to Damien but rebounded with a 34-7 victory over Glendora. The Falcons are led on offense by dual-threat quarterback Charlie Reyes and running back Champ Brown. UC Davis commit Marcus McGeilberry is a two-way standout at receiver and cornerback. Bonita routed Diamond Ranch last week but had to forfeit that victory because of a paperwork error. Quarterback Travis Lippert and running back / linebacker Joseph Reyes missed last week’s game due to injuries. Freshman Cade Burbidge filled in for Lippert and passed for 171 yards and a touchdown. Carson Bahruth is one of the area’s top two-way linemen.

Summit (2-0) at Beaumont (2-0), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Summit defeated Ayala (28-13) and Chino (28-25) to start the season. Jack Arany tossed two touchdown passes in last week’s win over Chino, while Shea Garner returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown. Nicholas Ortiz led the ground attack for the SkyHawks with 111 yards and one touchdown. Defensive back Gavin Rister leads the defense with 18 tackles. Beaumont has cruised to victories over San Jacinto (51-14) and Cathedral (52-31). Jeremiah Duhu is a top dual-threat quarterback, having passed for 421 yards and six touchdowns while rushing for 211 yards and two more scores. Travante James-Reek rushed for a career-high 152 yards and two touchdowns last week. Linebacker Matthew Casas leads the Cougars on defense with 13 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks.

Hillcrest (1-1) at Ramona (2-0), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Hillcrest looks to bounce back from last week’s 52-50 loss at Santiago. Matthew Ramos was an all-around star in that game, accounting for six touchdowns (two passing, two rushing and two receiving). Reyez Ortiz ran for a career-high 131 yards, and Zyren Jones caught seven passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns in his first game of the season for the Trojans. Safety Nico Bernal leads the defense with 15 tackles and is a dangerous punt returner. Ramona has posted a pair of wins over crosstown foes North (26-0) and Arlington (33-13). Lorenzo Sims leads the ground attack for the Rams. Linebacker Troy Long is the veteran leader of the defense and has 19 tackles through the first two games.

Oak Hills (2-0) at Rancho Cucamonga (0-2), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Rancho Cucamonga has suffered close losses to Murrieta Valley (28-26) and Orange Lutheran (27-24), and the Cougars will be tested again in their home opener. Fresno State commit Jacob Chambers has passed for 404 yards and three touchdowns, and James Strong III has racked up 261 yards from scrimmage. Darion Fluker intercepted five passes last year and already has two this season. Oak Hills has rolled in wins over Highland (35-6) and Bishop Amat (38-10). Jacob Webster has thrown for 300 yards and four touchdowns, and Christopher Martin has rushed for 198 yards and three scores.

Alta Loma (2-0) at Claremont (2-0), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Alta Loma is coming off a 20-13 win over crosstown foe Los Osos, a victory that gave the Lions the prize in the first “Banyan Bowl.” Freshman Maximus Fierro has thrown five touchdown passes, and Izaih Brown has added 152 yards and a pair of scores on the ground. Linebacker Ryder Dunlap leads the defense with 11 tackles and two picks. Claremont has started the season with wins over Capistrano Valley Christian (17-12) and Diamond Bar (50-42). Brandon Coronado passed for 349 yards and three touchdowns and added 77 yards and two touchdowns on the ground to lead the Wolfpack last week. Max Leeper is one of the state’s top tight ends and has caught 13 passes for 204 yards. Cornerback Doug Yegge had two interceptions in the season opener.

Chaparral (0-1) at San Clemente (1-1), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Chaparral opened the season with a 38-33 loss at San Juan Hills. The Pumas took their bye last week and return to Orange County for another tough test. Dane Weber shined in the opener, passing for 290 yards and two touchdowns while adding 104 yards and two scores on the ground. Michael “Kiko” Farinas caught seven passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. Linebacker Logan Coleman led the defense with 17 tackles. San Clemente dropped its opener to Tustin (30-17) but rebounded with a 35-15 win over Riverton of Utah. Jaxson Rex has caught 10 passes for 171 yards. Linebacker Patrick Norman leads the Tritons on defense with 19 tackles.

Chino Hills (2-0) at San Juan Hills (2-0), 7:30 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Chino Hills has posted dominant wins over Glendora (40-0) and El Camino (35-3). Alex Medyn has passed for 247 yards and three touchdowns, and Jacob Jimenez has rushed for 246 yards and three scores. Linebacker Noah Curtain leads the Huskies’ defense with 14 tackles. San Juan Hills started the season with wins over Chaparral (38-33) and Roosevelt (41-0). Timmy Herr has passed for 430 yards and six touchdowns, and Elijah Ayala has rushed for 194 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Stallions. Linebacker Noah Howell has intercepted a pass in each game.
