FRIDAY’S TOP GAMES
BIG WEST CONFERENCE-NORTH DIVISION
Centennial (6-1, 2-0) at Murrieta Valley (6-1, 2-0), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: The top teams in the IE Varsity rankings square off with sole possession of first place in the league standings at stake. No. 1-ranked Centennial cruised to a 63-14 win over Vista Murrieta last week. Dominick Catalano tossed four touchdowns, while Malaki Davis led the ground attack for the Huskies with 150 yards and three touchdowns. Safety Jaden Walk-Green has six interceptions, three of which he has brought back for touchdowns. No. 2-ranked Murrieta Valley erased a 28-20 deficit and secured a 56-42 victory over Chaparral last week. Jeremiah Watson set career highs with 281 yards on the ground and six touchdowns. Ty Isaia has passed for 917 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 304 yards on the ground. Linebacker Joseph Rodriguez leads the Nighthawks on defense with 78 tackles.

Chaparral (3-4, 1-1) at Norco (6-1, 1-1), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Chaparral looks to bounce back from last week’s loss at Murrieta Valley. Dane Weber passed for 440 yards and four touchdowns and added 53 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Eli Johnson, Tycen Johnson and Michael “Kiko” Farinas combined for 17 catches for 400 yards and four touchdowns. Linebacker Logan Coleman is averaging 9.4 tackles per game for the Pumas. Norco rolled to a 50-14 victory over Roosevelt last week. Julian Medina passed for 311 yards and four touchdowns, and running back Lee White found the end zone three times for the Cougars. Blake Wong leads the Inland area with 16 touchdown catches. Linebacker Tony Gonzalez leads the defense with 47 tackles.

GANO LEAGUE
Chaffey (3-4) at Rowland (7-0), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: This league opener very well could determine this year’s champion. Chaffey capped its nonleague schedule with a 28-24 loss to Rim of the World and took its bye last week. Alexis Almeida and Carlos Vasquez lead the balanced ground attack for the Tigers, combining for 1,049 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. Alcantara also leads the defense with 48 tackles and two interceptions. Rowland wrapped up nonleague play last week with a 36-21 win over Pioneer. Jose Valadez tossed two touchdown passes for the Raiders, while running back Christopher Carrillo racked up 189 yards from scrimmage while scoring three times. Defensive lineman Frankie Trujillo leads the defense with 5 1/2 sacks.

SIERRA LEAGUE
Bonita (4-3, 2-0) at Claremont (6-1, 1-1), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Bonita extended its winning streak to four games with last week’s 33-10 victory over Glendora. Travis Lippert is back under center for the Bearcats, and he passed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while adding a score on the ground in last week’s win. Linebacker Isaiah Lazarus leads the defense with eight tackles per game. Claremont looks to shake off last week’s 42-0 loss against Charter Oak. Quarterback Brandon Coronado remains sidelined with a shoulder injury, so Carter Montgomery likely will take snaps again for the Wolfpack. Max Leeper and Doug Yegge each have six touchdown catches this year. Safety Kingston Fajardo is among Inland leaders with five interceptions.

SUN VALLEY LEAGUE
Banning (5-2) at Desert Hot Springs (3-4), 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: This is another opener that could end up deciding the league championship. Defending champion Banning capped nonleague play last week with a 42-22 victory over Twentynine Palms. Quarterback Jacob Anzaldua has topped the 400-yard mark in three straight games, including a career-best 441 yards last week. Jmari Garlington is among the Inland leaders with 53 catches for 1,181 yards and 13 touchdowns. Linebacker Nathan Mandess leads the Broncos on defense with 59 tackles. Desert Hot Springs beat Twentynine Palms 26-6 on Oct. 2 and took its bye last week. Jaylen Turner has thrown for 748 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensive end Isaiah Flenor leads the Golden Eagles with five sacks.

SUNBELT LEAGUE
Riverside Poly (4-3, 2-0) vs. Hillcrest (4-3, 2-0) at Norte Vista HS, 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: The winner is guaranteed at least a share of first place heading into Week 9. Riverside Poly routed defending champion Rancho Christian 42-6 last week. Marjok Gustafson tossed four touchdown passes, and Michael Gaines Jr. scored three times for the Bears. Poly finished the game with four interceptions, two by Chubbs Meacham. Hillcrest cruised to 42-14 victory at Hemet last week. Matthew Ramos tossed three touchdowns passes and added 63 yards on the ground to lead the Trojans. Reyez Ortiz led the ground attack with 109 yards and two touchdowns. Safety Nico Bernal leads the defense with 65 tackles and also has returned two kickoffs and two punts for touchdowns.

SUNKIST LEAGUE
Grand Terrace (4-3) vs. Summit (4-2) at Miller HS, 7 p.m.
IE Varsity info: Grand Terrace captured the San Andreas League crown last year and was promoted to the Sunkist League. The Titans will open against last year’s league champion. Grand Terrace capped nonleague play last week with a 28-19 win at Colton. The Titans are led on offense by quarterback Jaden Montano and on defense by linebacker Jayceon Johnson. Summit wrapped up nonleague play last week with a 58-0 win over crosstown rival Kaiser. Defensive back Gavin Rister is averaging 7.8 tackles per game and lineman John Valadez leads the SkyHawks with four sacks.
