Weather officials issued a heat advisory for Tuesday and Wednesday as Santa Ana winds are expected to move through Southern California.
The heat advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday until 7 p.m. Wednesday in Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire and Orange County, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures are expected to be about 10 to 15 degrees higher than normal across the region.
In the Inland Empire, high temperatures Tuesday are expected to be between 92 and 95 degrees with highs Wednesday hovering around the lows 90s, said Sam Zuber, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in San Diego. Overnight, temperatures could drop to between the mid-50s to mid-60s in the Inland Empire.
Highs in San Bernardino and Riverside are expected to be around 92 degrees Tuesday, with a high of 91 in San Bernardino and 92 in Riverside on Wednesday, Zuber said.
Temperatures are expected to be similar in Orange County, with highs of 92 in Anaheim and 90 in Santa Ana on Tuesday. On Wednesday, highs are expected to drop around two degrees from the previous day, Zuber said.
Lows are expected around to hover around the mid- to low-60s in Anaheim and Santa Ana both days, Zuber said.
Temperatures across Los Angeles County will hit highs between 90 and 95 degrees both days, said meteorologist David Gomberg with the National Weather Service. Winds will also bring increased fire concerns across the area.
Highs are expected around 92 degrees in Pasadena and Downtown L.A. on Tuesday and Wednesday, with lows around 62 to 60 degrees.
On the coast, temperatures Tuesday are forecast Tuesday to hit 87 in Long Beach and 83 in Huntington Beach.
Residents should take precautions by staying hydrated and taking breaks in shade or air conditioned spaces if they need to be outside, Zuber said. It’s also best to schedule outside activities for the early morning, evening or at night rather than the hottest parts of the day, she said.
