A Fontana school is relishing in its recent refresh.
Chaparral Academy of Technology won a contest to spruce up the campus, with up to $150,000 spent on new murals, banners and other visuals.
The academy took the grand prize in Jostens Epic School Revamp Contest, which brought experts to the campus to work on a rebranding, a Fontana Unified School District news release states.
“Our main goal is to create a school environment where students and staff feel loved, supported and inspired,” Principal Tim McCaffrey said in the release. “We want every wall, hallway and interaction to reflect our shared story — a journey of growth, connection and success where everyone feels valued and motivated to thrive.”
McCaffrey attended the school as a student and is in his sixth school year as a principal in Fontana but first at Chaparral.
The school’s contest entry included a three-minute video detailing how students, employees and families would benefit from a revamp.
A Tuesday, May 13, schoolwide rally celebrated the makeover, which makes use of a purple and teal color scheme.
During the reveal, the academy unveiled its reimagined Roadrunner mascot and showed off new murals, banners and other visuals designed to “refresh the campus and capture the essence of the Roadrunner spirit,” the release states.
