A 22-year-old driver was arrested after a law enforcement chase ended in a crash Saturday, Nov. 22 in San Bernardino, killing a passenger in the suspect vehicle.
Frank Paul Rodriguez Jr. of Rialto was arrested on suspicion of evading police leading to great bodily injury and gross vehicular manslaughter after he allegedly led deputies on a 48-mile chase that ended on the eastbound 210 Freeway, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash killed 21-year-old Alana Marina Juarez of San Bernardino, who was a passenger in the vehicle along with two boys whom officials didn’t identify.
Deputies first tried to make a traffic stop on the vehicle for a moving violation around 11:50 p.m. near Arden Avenue and the westbound 210 Freeway, but the vehicle didn’t stop and law enforcement chased it, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The chase ended when the suspect vehicle lost control on the eastbound 210 Freeway offramp to North State Street, ejecting Rodriguez, Juarez and the juvenile passengers, the Sheriff’s Department said.
The investigation is ongoing.
Rodriguez is being held on $250,000 bail.
