Police are investigating after a 52-year-old woman was found dead in a Corona home hours after police arrested her boyfriend on suspicion of domestic violence.
Officers responded at 11:50 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, to a home in the 1700 block of Wren Avenue, where police forced entry after trying several times to contact someone inside, according to the Corona Police Department. That location is west of the 15 Freeway and north of Magnolia Avenue.
Police found Avery King with “multiple visible injuries” inside the home, but she turned down medical transportation and chose not to pursue prosecution, police said.
Her boyfriend, 55-year-old Manuel Rivera, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence-related charges with bail enhanced to $500,000, and an emergency protective order was issued for King.
Several hours after police arrived at the home, family arrived to check on King because they hadn’t heard from her. They found her dead inside the home and called 911, police said.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
Rivera did not post bail after his arrest and before King was found dead, police said. Rivera remained in custody Tuesday, records show.
Anyone with information regarding King’s death was asked to call detectives at 951-955-6100.
