The older brother of Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua was arrested in West Hollywood on suspicion of taking a Laker rookie’s SUV without the owner’s consent last week, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and media reports.
The victim flagged down deputies on the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard, the department said. That stretch mostly holds restaurants and hotels. He told deputies his late-model BMW had been stolen and he had tracked it to Sunset Boulevard.
Investigators alleged that Samson Nacua, 27, took the vehicle from a Wilshire location and another 27-year-old, Trey Rose, was the driver when the two arrived on Sunset.
Nacua is the older brother of Rams player Puka Nacua and played football at the University of Utah and Brigham Young University.
The Sheriff’s Department did not name the BMW’s owner, but NBC4 and other outlets reported it is Lakers rookie Adou Thiero and said the one suspect is the receiver’s brother.
Nacua and Rose were arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, the Sheriff’s Department said. They were released.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities ask anyone with information regarding the case to contact the West Hollywood Station’s detectives at 310-855-8850.
