A 14-year-old Highland boy was arrested on suspicion of carjacking after he assaulted a marijuana dispensary delivery driver and stole her car, according to the Redlands Police Department.
The driver was making a delivery in the 300 block of Emerald Avenue in Redlands and parked her car, a black 2015 Chevy Camaro, in front of a home. The passenger window was open and the suspect jumped through it, assaulted the driver, forced her out of the car and drove away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, police said.
“He punched the driver several times in the arm, the head, and the body. Then he opened the driver’s side door and attempted to push her out of the vehicle,” said Redlands Police Public Information Officer Carl Baker. The woman was not transported to a hospital. She reported being hit by the vehicle when the suspect drove off.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, San Bernardino Police found the stolen car and pursued it. At the end of the pursuit, police detained multiple people in the car, including a person that matched the carjacker’s description.
It is not known if the suspect knew the car was making a marijuana delivery.
