A 20-year-old Chino Hills man was arrested on Monday. Oct. 6 on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter following a head-on crash tied to intoxicated driving on Carbon Canyon Road the week prior, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced.
Ethan Ryan Godde was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, jail booking information showed. He was being held on $250,000 bail.
Godde was one of the drivers involved in the crash on Carbon Canyon Road near Chino Hills Parkway just before 5:50 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28. The crash involved him and another driver, a 29-year-old Whittier resident, who was killed in the crash, a Sheriff’s Department statement said.
One vehicle caught on fire at the scene. Godde had “minor injuries” from the crash, the statement said.
The deceased driver’s identity was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
Carbon Canyon Road — which connects Chino Hills to Brea — was closed in both directions, between Chino Hills Parkway and Feldspar Drive, for hours after the crash.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact investigators at (909) 364-2000.
