The private university bid farewell to approximately 487 undergraduates in a morning ceremony inside the campus’ Ted Runner Stadium. About 511 were set to walk during an evening commencement.
Angel Blue, an opera singer who graduated from the university in 2005, gave the commencement address Friday morning. Because of her schedule, those remarks came in a pre-recorded message, but Professor Emeritus Ben Dillow accepted an honorary doctor of humane letters on her behalf.
Steven Jones, a 2000 University of Redlands graduate who is now global chairman and CEO of Allied Universal, is set to give the commencement speech at the graduate ceremony. He too will receive an honorary doctor of humane letters.
Universities, colleges and high schools across the Inland Empire will soon begin graduations. California Baptist University in Riverside is set to start its commencements Monday.
