A 13-year-old girl has died following a shooting across the street from an elementary school in San Bernardino on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
Crews responded at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday to the 1200 block of North G Street, where they found a girl who had been shot, according to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.
Paramedics pronounced the girl dead at the scene, across the street from Riley College Prep Academy. The girl previously attended San Bernardino City Unified schools.
“She was not enrolled in our district at the time of her passing, but we know this news is painful for many who remember her,” the district said in a statement.
Riley College Prep Academy was placed on a precautionary hold with students staying in their classrooms and continuing to learn while staff and school district police ensured the situation was handled, district officials said. The district sent revised departure plans to families as part of G Street in front of the school was closed during the investigation.
San Bernardino police are investigating the shooting. No further information was immediately available.
